Consultation on refreshing the Mandate to NHS England: 2014 - 2015

Closed 27 Sep 2013

Opened 5 Jul 2013

Overview

The Mandate to NHS England will be refreshed and published in the Autumn this year for 2014/15. The Mandate sets the Government’s ambitions for the NHS as well as the funding available to achieve and deliver the kind of care people need and expect.

The first Mandate was published in November 2012 and covers the period April 2013 – March 2015. The Government expects NHS England to demonstrate significant progress against all 24 objectives by March 2015 and we will hold them to account for doing so.

Updating the Mandate to NHS England is an annual requirement in the Health and Social Care Act 2012 to ensure it remains relevant and up to date. Changes introduced as part of the refresh will be consulted on over the summer.
