National Framework for Children and Young People's Continuing Care

Closed 23 Oct 2015

Opened 3 Sep 2015

Overview

Children and young people's continuing care is needed when a child or young person has complex needs which cannot be met by routinely commissioned universal or specialised services. This framework is intended to provide guidance for clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) and local authorities on the process for assessing, deciding and agreeing packages of continuing care.

The 2010 framework has been revised to take account of changes to commissioning and the new arrangements for children with special educational needs and disability introduced by the Children and Families Act 2014.

Please note that the decision support tool reproduces material which is included in the National Framework, for use locally in decision-making.
